Phoenix Landmarks and Phoenix Monuments
(Phoenix, Arizona - AZ, USA)
Although many of historical buildings in Phoenix have long been destroyed through rapid unchecked development, pockets of well-preserved landmarks still remain, offering visitors a glimpse into Phoenix's past.
Explore Victorian-era houses in downtown Phoenix or tour more modern creations such as luxury resorts or one-of-a-kind castles, while not forgetting that central Arizona is home to numerous Native American ruins, landmarks and monuments. Here are some of the most visited landmarks and monuments in Phoenix, many of which are just a short drive from Phoenix city center.
Phoenix Landmarks and Monuments: Arizona Biltmore - 2400 East Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), USA
Tel: +1 602 955 6600
Elements of this well-known resort were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, including cement blocks and numerous sculptures, pieces of furniture and stained glass. Dinners are popular at Arizona Biltmore, as are the guided tours.

Phoenix Landmarks and Monuments: Arizona Capitol - 1700 West Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), 85007, USA
Tel: +1 602 542 4675
No longer serving as the State Capitol, this territorial capitol building is located on Phoenix's West Washington Street. Built in 1898, the Arizona Capitol is now restored to resemble its 1912 appearance, the year Arizona gained statehood. Rooms open to the public include the stately senate and house chambers, while numerous exhibits trace the history of Arizona. Look for the impressive statue, 'Winged Victory', which sits on the landmark's copper roof.

Phoenix Landmarks and Monuments: Burton Barr Library - 1221 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), USA
Tel: +1 602 262 4636
This distinctive building appears like something out of a science fiction novel and certainly turns the whole notion of libraries being boring, dusty dens on its head. Most striking is the ribbed copper that partially covers the exterior of Phoenix's Burton Barr Library, as well as the computer-controlled louvers and shade sails used to reduce the glaring desert heat.

Phoenix Landmarks and Monuments: Historic Heritage Square - 115 North Sixth Street, Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), USA
Tel: +1 602 262 5029
Historic Heritage Square is the original town site and one of the last historic sites left in Phoenix. Located in downtown Phoenix, its 19th-century Victorian houses are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places and nowadays house museums, restaurants and shops.

Phoenix Landmarks and Monuments: Mystery Castle - 800 East Mineral Road, Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), 85040, USA
Tel: +1 602 268 1581
A must-see Phoenix landmark is Mystery Castle, an extravagant 18-room folk art mansion built in the 1930s and '40s by Boyce Luther Gulley from recycled materials and stones collected from the surrounding area. His daughter still lives there today and leads guided tours of the unique building.

William Wrigley Junior made his fortune through the production of chewing gum and between 1929 and 1931 he built an Italian-style mansion for his wife, Ada. Located near the Arizona Biltmore, the mansion oozes opulence and style both inside and out, and is now a National Historic Landmark in Phoenix.
